Earlier this week, Government of Brunei representatives met with U.S. State Department Building Division, U.S. Embassy-Brunei officials, and private U.S. building contractors to exchange information. The meetings focused on the building of the new U.S. Embassy in Jalan Kebangsaan.
Representatives from the following agencies (i.e, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Royal Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance, Revenue Division, Municipal Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, Land Transport Department, Ministry of Communications, Town and Country Planning Dept., Ministry of Development, Construction Planning & Research Unit, Ministry of Development, Department of Water Services, Ministry of Development, Department of Drainage & Sewerage, Ministry of Development, Technical Services, Ministry of Development, Department of Electrical Services and Telekom Brunei Berhad) provided expert advice to the State Department Officials and private business on Brunei laws and regulations. The valuable information will help the U.S. Government, U.S. Embassy-Brunei, and private firms as they move forward with this important project. Plans call for construction to proceed once all legal and regulatory requirements have been met.
Charge d’ Affaires, John W. McIntyre said “The cooperation and participation of so many Government of Brunei agencies continues to be outstanding. Without their support and guidance, we could have not made the outstanding progress that we have. The new U.S. embassy is just one sign of our deep commitment to a long and beneficial relationship with Brunei.”
