U.S Embassy hosts discussion with Jon Alterman

On Thursday September 4, the U.S Embassy hosted a Digital Video Conference session inviting selected Bruneian officials, Diplomatic missions and media to interact with renowned Foreign Policy expert Jon B. Alterman.  Jon Alternman is the director and senior fellow of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Middle East program.

During the discussion, Mr. Alterman answered questions raised by the Bruneian officials which included future U.S - Middle East relations, his initial research on Southeast Asia and the role of Islam, and the upcoming Presidential candidates’ policy towards the Middle East region

Mr. Alterman spoke from the U.S Embassy in Singapore where he is currently on a U.S Speaker Program till September 6 and scheduled to give a public lecture at the S.Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University and call on various senior government officials, journalists, commentators and think-tankers.  Mr. Alterman will also be meeting with Singapore’s leading expert on Indonesia, Assoc. Prof. Leonard Sebastian, Dr. Rohan Gunaratna of RSIS, and senior officers from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore. 

The U.S Embassy continues to host such interactive programs involving Government officials, academia, professional and members of the public as an avenue to exchange views with leading American experts on various subjects of bilateral interest.
