POSITION : GENERAL SERVICES/ SHIPPING CLERK
OPENING DATE : April 19, 2008

WORK HOURS : Full time, 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday
SALARY : FSN 5 - $18,812 per annum during probationary period. FSN 6 - $23,723 per annum.
The U.S. Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan is seeking a dynamic, action-oriented individual for the above position.
ORGANIZATION AND LOCATION: The duties of this position will be performed at the U.S. Embassy Bandar Seri Begawan.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: Perform wide variety of General Services duties and functions related to the daily operation of the Embassy, including: responsibility for shipping (incoming/outgoing);lliaison with local government ministries and departments such as MFAT, Immigration, Labor and Customs; organizes and ensures motor pool vehicles are maintained and motor pool record-keeping is accurate and current; serves as receiving and inspection agent; assists with inventory; handles incoming/outgoing diplomatic mail; serves as occasional motor pool driver; and backs-up all other General Services positions in the Embassy.
Desired Qualifications:
• Diploma or degree in related discipline or equivalent is required.
• Minimum two to three years experience in Customs/Shipping procedures, Immigration and airport procedures.
• Prior experience working in customer service oriented establishment would be an advantage.
• Level IV English (fluent) working knowledge of English is required.
Level IV Malay (fluent) is required.
• Must be familiar with host government Immigration Department procedures and Brunei Import/Export regulations.
• The ability to draft in a clear, unambiguous, concise and grammatically correct manner is essential as is the ability to communicate with all level of staff and to interpret official documents and legislation.
SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and US Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
6. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.
