In the event of a serious emergency involving a U.S. citizen in Brunei, a duty officer at the U.S. Embassy can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Consular officers can provide assistance to American citizens in the event of death, serious illness or accident, arrest, or crime.  Routine matters - particularly those involving the issuance of a passport or visa - should wait until the next business day.

During Embassy office hours, the consular officer can be reached through the Embassy switchboard:

After office hours, the duty officer can be reached at:

(673) 873-0691 

Note: U.S. citizens residing in or traveling through Malaysia - including the states of Sarawak and Sabah - should seek asssistance from the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in the event of an emergency.
