Adding Pages to a Passport

Extra visa pages can be added to your passport at no fee.  Please make an appointment with the Consular Section for this service.  You may drop off your passport and it will be ready for pick up by 4PM the same day.  Due to staffing shortages this year from mid May to mid August, we regret that “while you wait” service will not be available. You will need to bring your passport and complete and sign form DS-4085 (Print Form DS-4085).

May I have someone else submit an application to add pages to my passport?

Applicants age 14 and above may authorize someone else to submit an application to add visa pages. The authorized person must provide a signed letter of authorization stating that you permit him / her to file an application to add pages on your behalf. You must sign the DS-4085 form yourself; no proxy is allowed. Please note that if the consular officer has any question about your eligibility for a U.S. passport, you will be required to appear in person.

Applicants under the age of 14 do not need to appear in person to add pages to their passports. However, at least one parent must be present and both parents or legal guardians must sign the Form DS-4085, and the absent parent must provide a notarized Letter of Consent (Form DS-3053) or a similar notarized letter of authorization). This notarization can be done by a Bruneian notary, or at the Embassy. Notarizations done for this purpose at the Embassy are free of charge. Parents must also supply the minor’s original birth certificate and their own identity documents.

Is there a limit to the number of times pages may be added?

There is no legal limit to the number of times pages may be added. If your passport has become so thick it is hard to use, we recommend that you apply to get a replacement.
