On January 30, Ambassador Shields visited Sekolah Rendah Kg. Pintu Malim where he was invited as Guest of Honor for the Dillenia Water Awareness Project to award prizes and over 100 certiciates to participants of the competition led by alumni of 2010 SEAYLP.
Supporting Brunei's Biodiversity Conservation
On February 1, Ambassador Shields visited the Turtle Conservation and Management Center at Serasa to gain a deeper understanding on the Center’s activities and continue USG engagement with Brunei on sustainable development. At the Center, Ambassador got the opportunity to tag one of the protected species, a Hawskbill.

The Department of State has issued this Worldwide Caution to update information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world. U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness. This replaces the Worldwide Caution dated July 26, 2011, to provide updated information on security threats and terrorist activities worldwide.

Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens: Thailand, Possible Terrorist Threat

New Visa Announcement for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
For any U.S. traveler to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, please note that the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia announced on November 23, 2011 that commencing from the end of year of Hajj 1432H (November 26, 2011), machine readable passports are required when applying for visas to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Non-machine readable passport holders will not be granted visas.
